Versowood is Finland’s largest private wood-processing group; the year 2026 marked its eightieth year in the sawmilling business. The family-owned company—which has risen to become one of the ten largest players in the European industry. The story begun in 1946 with a man, a saw and a dream.
Objective
Our mission was to tell the sawdust-scented story of Versowood and show the kind of company it has grown into: a business that exports to 70 countries and employs around a thousand people.
To mark the 80-year journey, a grand celebration was held at Vierumäki’s new headquarters, and there was a desire to capture the atmosphere of the event. The purpose of the historical video was to recount the eventful history of the family business.
Execution
We explored the company’s eventful history and produced a video incorporating the anniversary theme: “Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.” It was also important to capture all three generations of the Kopra family together in emotionally resonant shots. Prior to this, we screened an introductory video we had created to kick off the event program and set the right mood for the audience.
The brand video combined existing and new footage to showcase the company’s expanded product range and the values guiding its operations.
An after-movie and still photos were captured during the festivities and quickly processed for immediate use, allowing staff and guests to relive the atmosphere of the festivities while the memories were still fresh.
“I am particularly pleased with how thoroughly the company’s historical material was studied and internalized. This was evident in the script, and I felt confident in Karu’s ability to tell our company’s story. I was also delighted by their wealth of ideas and the courage to propose something new and different; corporate videos often tend to look very similar.
I am also grateful for Karu’s patience and flexibility. We were able to fine-tune every last detail. The result is excellent, and we are happy to share our story through these new videos. They complement our other marketing materials perfectly, helping us convey a stronger emotional message and, in turn, create a lasting impression.”
